2010, going on 2011

I'd actually totally forgotten that I had a blog till a stranger reminded it about it recently:)

2010 was a super-awesome year for me!

I've had so many "firsts" is 2010... like....

- taking a 6 hour bus ride alone

- going on an airplane halfway across the world by myself

-riding a jet-ski

- spending waaay too much money!!!

-buying a dress and wearing it voluntarily for a reason other than prom...

-getting fan mail(LOL)

-getting a pedicure

-wearing shorts in public (a one time feat not to be repeated! haha)

-getting 4 teeth yanked out in a week

-going on a real holiday with my high school fiends

-getting a body massage

-joining a gym(although it hasn't shown any results yet... hmmph..)

& lots more!

2010 was a memorable year and I'm hoping that 2011 is as great as 2010!

I think I may have a shopping problem....

i love 2 shop.. when things r cheap!!!! it's like having super delicious chocolate brownies with hot fudge and vanilla ice-cream.... *drool*...

I've bought more stuff in the U.S. than i thought i would... but i still feel unsatisfied.... also.. i might need 2 get a biggger bag going home coz i may not be able 2 fit all of my stuff!.

Niagara falls

Niagara falls was beautiful!!! awesome!!! breathtaking!!!

i sooo wanna have some important moment in my life happen there... it felt like something so unreal n fairytale like.. as if it was a dream...

i really thought that it was a wonder of the world...but apparently.. it isnt!!!!

qhich makes me think.. that i should go visit some of these other "wonders"... if they r really better than Niagara falls!

I would definitely wanna go there sometime again during my lifetime... only that at nite.. d bugs come out.. which is pretty gross.. but other than that... it was great!

Imagination station n sportsman's paradise

imagination station is like planet sains negara.. all kinds of things u can experience, touch n feel.... n they demonstrate some science experiments.. it was very entertaining indeed....

Also... i went to a shop called sportsman's paradise.. they have all kinds of animals there.. i saw deers, racoons, moose, bears, etc... n they are all real hunted animals.. which have been sent 2 be preserved n stuffed and fitted with artificial eyes...... it all looks quite scary actually...

it seems to me that they r promoting cruelty 2 animals.. my uncle has a theory of his own.. namely that animals will kill themselves ata certain time of the year which is y ppl r allowed 2 go n hunt them down.. i beg 2 differ.... let d animals kill themselves.s.. if that's how God planned it... but i dont think we shld be condoning it...

4th of July fireworks

The fireworks display was beautiful.. we camped out from 6.30p.m. n waited 4 d fireworks,, which started about 4 hours later...

what i find very weird is that they don't do it like how we do it in Malaysia.. ie: at midnight.. but they do it as soon as it gets dark.. and that's only about 10p.m. here....

Also... fireworks went on 4 the entire weekend.. and almost in every park there are ppl setting off big fireworks.. it's not illegal here... they were setting it off about... 20 feet away from where i was.. which i thought was cool!!!

Also.. for the 1st time...i went 2 someone's house which had a pool in it!!! small.. but a pool is a pool!!

i think i have been roasted and toasted... i may just end up Navin's colour when i get back.. hehe...

The weather here is great from my hair... but... terrible for my skin... it's totally peeling off!!

Devil's Lake

We went for a short trip to a lake about an hour away called Devil's Lake...

It's a mystery why they call it that...

My theory is

A. ppl always used to die there

B. Ppl claimed that the lake is cursed

C. It's shaped in the form of a devil's fork

D. All the ppl who can afford 2 live thr are rich and famous.. so evryone else was jealous and wanted some evil"stigma" about it.. so they called it Devil's Lake...

One of the best trips in my life!!!

Rode on a pontoon boat, paddle boat, canoed, jumped into deep water(with my life jacket on of course), jet-skiied... even had a campfire... roasted marshmellows n all.. totally ala Americana... haha.... i reaalllly enjoyed it... was great!!!

Road manners and Indiana

the ppl here stick 2 speed limits for the most part... barely saw anyone speeding.. no zigzegging 2 overtake... no honking... no road rage.. there's some kind of understanding i guess that everyone just respects each other on the road.. i think it's quite cool actually!!!

Even i personally have been guilty of zig zagging 2 over take.. only on occassion though:)

Initially, i got here i felt that no one smiled at me.. altho i smiled at them.. and i though that it was coz i was indian... but now ppl r smiling at me:) maybe b'coz i'm buying stuff from them.. haha...

We went to Indiana yesterday... Saw the Amish ppl.. went to the museum... very interesting.. they all wear plain-coloured clothes... white bonnets.... and ride buggies... which r horses which pull a carriages with ppl in them... the whole place smelled like horse poop... but bsides that... it was good:) they were persecuted.. much like most othr religions.. be'coz of their faith.. and way if living...

They all believe in Jesus.. but choose to be cut off from worldly things.. so they dont have cars.. or computers or TV.... they all sit 2gether at meals.. hold property in common... respect for family life.. no contraception or birth control.. each family has 8-12 children.... The city is quiet.. it basically goes 2 sleep at about 7pm.. it only gets dark here at 10.. so there's a lot to do:)

Of dog shows and roads....

Today, we went 4 a dog show.. well... d show didnt actually start... but we did see lots of dogs!!

the dogs are huge!!!! super biG!! i've never seen dogs that size in Malaysia... i wonder wat they feed them... i also saw super small dogs... that were the size of a kitten!!!

The road is left-hand drive here.... to me it feels like they r gonna hit into something but i remind myself shut up just in case i scream and they actually hit into something!! haha...

The houses here are cute.... no gates no fences.... just small houses.. with chimneys.... driveways.. garages.... wooden floors and the houses are made of wood... o sneaking out here.. coz each time u walk.. it's squeak squeak.... haha :)

I am a TV addict.. so here.. it's like pulling the plug on my drug!!! so far i've watched 1 movie at home.. but dat's about it.. so... i'll have 2 see how I survive:)

I guess this experience will be like a foreign exchange student... kind of... ppl look at me more here coz i'm a rare species.... Indian:)

Journey to the U.S.A.!

Long airplane flights.. so nooooot my cup of tea!!!

i had 1 7 hour flight and another 11 hour....

Things I hate about flying:

1. The ear popping sound and intense pain in my ear during landing....

2. Crying babies... I love kids!! But, I pity d little ones... it's so uncomfortable 4 adults... how much more 4 the kids!! n they sry a lot... i barely got 3 hours of sleep on a 48 hours on flight!!

3. There's no space to move.. i barely could feel my left leg...

4. My earphones didn't work on d 2nd flight.. and they didnt have a personal tv 4 a 11 hour flight!!! that was soooooo crazy!!!

Now that I'm here....

I didn't have any trouble adjusting to the sleeping.. but everything was shaking.. as if though I was still on the plane.... it's better now:)

I went 2 1 store so far.. n they have Lays chips 4 8 ringgit.. so dat's cheap... n some cosmetics are cheap.... but... I haven't had A real adventure... besides babysitting... n d baby just burst out crying... eventho nothing was wrong!! ~ aiks!!

oh well....

The increase shld be slow n steady....
Not so sharp n not so drastic...

I haven't gotten on a bus yet since de increase...

Protests, Good vs Evil

Recently...some ppl decided 2 have a pro-ISA and anti- ISA march...
Thr r 2 sides 2 de coin here....

On one hand... it is the people's right 2 have a peaceful asembly...
On the other hand, Protesting ---
causes massive traffic jams,
shld be done in places like stadiums etc.. n not de middle of a shopping area...
is a waste when you know no one is going to react to it...

It isn't helping anybody...
It is embarassing us on international TV...
The ppl's concern shld be voiced via better channels...
Are these protests really in the ppl's better interest??
or is it 2 serve politicians own agenda??

agonizing... excruciating... painful... especially if u don't know if ur going 2 make it....

Example A : deadline.... 5 pm... when we get out stuff in?? 4.57... crazeeee!!! my heart stopped beating...... i was freaking losing my mind.. it would have cost us damaging deductions... thank God.. we made it....

Moral of the story: Get done 10 days earlier!! coz u know u'll never "REALLY" be done then... :)
